In the sacred Mayan calendar, Kan is the glyph of the serpent — the cosmic bridge connecting the depths of the earth, the water and the open sky. For millennia the highlands around Lake Atitlán have served as a natural observatory, where ancestral astronomers followed the stars and planetary cycles above the three guardian volcanoes.
Centuries later, that same sky drew colonial-era explorers, astronomers and archaeologists to these shores — travellers who crossed the highlands with brass instruments and field journals, mapping volcanoes by day and charting constellations by night. The serpent of the Mayan calendar and the explorer's telescope look at the very same horizon.
We reinterpret that spirit through the lens of a 19th-century expedition. Handcrafted mahogany, natural expedition canvas and warm brass — including a telescope for the sunset and the night sky — sit within light architecture that stays refined without losing its connection to nature.
Handcrafted mahogany. Natural linen. Warm brass. Open views across Lake Atitlán.

Set in the hills above the shore, KAN is a quiet base between the water and the volcanoes — minutes from the village of San Marcos, a world away from its bustle.
